Evacuee Meeting
Lake Arrowhead, CA - About 260 concerned residents attended the Sunday Evacuee Meeting at Rim of the World High School. Cautious optimism prevailed as Running Springs Fire Chief Bill Smith announced that the Incident Command team is tentatively planning to lift the mandatory evacuation for Running Springs at 6:00 PM Sunday. A voluntary evacuation will remain in place for all displaced residents, and contingency plans should be made in case the mandatory evacuation is not lifted.
All road blocks along Highway 18 will be removed at 6:00 PM Sunday, if all goes according to plan. Highway 330 will remain closed for the forseeable future, so commuters should make alternative plans for Monday and allow for extra travel time. Schools will be open on a normal schedule. Busses will remain at the ready at Charles Hoffman Elementary in case they are needed to re-evacuate students on Monday.
