Tree Work Traffic
Tree workers block traffic along SR-18 in Rimforest (August 27).
Just when you thought the 18 was open and ready for traffic, you run into a 20-minute delay at Rimforest . New funds have allowed officials to resume removing dead and dangerous trees along Highway 18 . While tree removal activity is confined to weekday daytime hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, it can cause some traffic nightmares.
But there are alternatives to getting around. Upbound traffic can either detour through Crestline or turn off on Lake Gregory Drive and meet up with State Highway 189 . Follow this through Twin Peaks until you meet Daley Canyon Road at a 3-way stop. From here, you can turn left to go into Blue Jay and Lake Arrowhead , or right to meet back up with State Route 18 .

Downbound traffic can turn down Daley Canyon Road and make a left on State Route 189 . Follow this until you meet up with Grandview Road in Twin Peaks next to the Sheriff's Station. Turn right, then immediately turn left onto North Road . This is a windy road, so be careful. It will take you out to Lake Gregory Drive , where you can either turn left to meet back up with State Route 18 , or turn right and continue your detour through Crestline .

As always, follow posted detour signs. Always obey road closure signs, and be very careful on unfamiliar roads. Watch for children, animals, and other drivers.
