Description: Note: The alerts are updated when there is active scanner information and members of our alerts team are available to enter alerts. Sometimes we have no coverage to add updates to the alerts. Or, as with the fires, there is very little non-logistical scanner chatter since operations have become fairly scheduled and routine.

Back from a one-week tour of duty of structure protection on the Slide Incident, and I'd like to deliver a message. After saving several dozen houses that were in the path of the fire, and losing two- DEFENSIBLE SPACE WORKS. Resources were thin on the initial attack, and, because of the attentive homeowners, we had enough time to keep all those houses from being total losses. Raking pine needles and cutting ladder fuels is very simple stuff, and I want to personally thank all the homeowners that had that taken care of. Our acting engine captain for the incident will be spreading this knowledge via the next Fire Safe Council meeting.

"Despite its location at "ground zero" of this week's mountain wildfire, St. Anne in the Mountains Church and Parish Center in Running Springs have survived in tact, parish officials reported Friday morning. Our Lady of the Lake and St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, two other mountain parishes that were threatened, are confirmed to have also survived the fire. St. Anne Parish Secretary Terri MacDonald reported that her husband had been escorted up to Running Springs late Thursday and witnessed both the Church and retreat center untouched by the fire - although not by much. The parish retreat center is on the same side of Fredalba Road where the fire burned several other structures."
